Can anyone comment on GL63 reliability?

Or if you've owned another AMG mecedes in the past, what pitfalls should one expect, if you plan to own one past the warranty period?

They're too busy racing from stoplight to stoplight and caressing their designo leather to look at the forum.

And for what it's worth, I owned an S55 AMG - amazing car, amazing engine, amazing monthly relationship with the service department. Sold it before it went out of warranty.

Well, I guess that tells me what I needed to know. Suspected about as much.

A gaggle of MB's
Let's clarify a bit .. are you sking about GL63 or GLS63.. GL63 puts you into 2013-2016 model years... GLS63 puts you into the 2017 model refresh..

Can you buy with low annual mileage intention and keep beyond 4yrs... sure..

If you plan to keep "beyond warranty" by miles then you might consider finding the right Mercedes Certified GL/GLS63 because under CPO you have Unlimited Miles out to 5yrs from original owner purchase date - which can be extended for up to additional 2 calendar years - with Unlimited Mileage - at a lower extended warranty cost for CPO warranty than to extend New Car MB Warranty - assuming you get the eight CPO rig with the gear you want.

On "new" build-to-order - smart money could make the case for long-term hold to build a maxed out GLS450 over a GL550... save yourself $13K or so by building GLS450 with same gear you would get in your GLS550 .. most sonsider GL450 better road trip highway comfort - lower maintenance costs - longer tire life - better fuel economy - less dollar/depreciation hit again in dollars..

Whatever floats your boat..

GLS63 and GL63 are the same basic vehicle though? I was just curious about the reliability of the GL63 as it compares to 550 or 450, all other things being equal (years, mileage).

Speaking in general, I've been holding out for the 2018 model, because I want the improved steering assist. Nearly placed an order for the 2017 a few months back but didn't like the sloppy steering assist. Once you fully spec out a 450 it's about 95k, and at that point all 3 GLS become more or less the same price wise. I like the feel of the GLS63, but I'm not sure I want to deal with it falling apart on me later, as I plan to own the next GLS for a while.

Please clarify "I've been holding out for the 2018 model, because I want the improved steering assist"... I don't know what you think 2018 will bring..
