When do orders open for 2018?

We have a '14 GL550 that we love but is putting on the miles.
We're thinking about ordering a 2018 GLS550.
When do they start booking slots for orders of the next model AND when do they typically start the build?

call MB customer service they will tell you
i just got info of S class . will release Q3 with S450 and S560 S AMG

2018 GLS550 will start pilot production in June - with production line changeover at the factory right after July 4th - 2018 GLS will then stack up at VPC for a mid/end-August release shipment to dealers.

Order guide "should" be out end-March/early-April - assume :about" same price as 2017 GLS

cincy8 03-11-2017 09:47 AM

Thanks Fab. I always appreciate your replies!

Will you be able to post the ordering guide when out?

GeneralToner 03-11-2017 10:59 PM

Makes sense that new DOG will be out late March/early April, build for GLS550 is scheduled for March 19th, who knows how long for delivery to PA.

Oh well, received an excellent price, will keep for a long time, all options except B&O and rear entertainment so should be just what want (Selenite/Espresso Designo).

Driving a 2004 Honda Pilot with 241k miles, should be a bit of a difference regardless of model year.

Question for everyone...I have a 2017 GLS550 on order for a mid-June delivery. With the 2018s coming out mid-end of August would it behoove me to wait for the 2018s? My dealer is saying the factory might run the GLS450 first so the 550s might be even further out.

fabbrisd1 04-04-2017 05:55 PM

Frankly speaking ... the SUV 2018 Dealer Order Guides have been released - the GLS DOG released March 24 - and no, I can't post here because 2yrs ago - a Rat ******* forum member at that time - made a such a stink with his local dealer over nonsense - it went upstream/badly at MBUSA which caused me flak I don't need.

1. 2018 GLS is exactly the same as 2017 - except a few minor gyrations - with a Grand Edition model due out "mid-year" without details.

2. A 2017 GLS550 in June "should be" a bit "less" one way or another that a 2018 GLS550 in Aug/Sept. By a "bit" all depends on you-and-your-dealer - there is ZERO pressure or MBUSA support to move GLS550 since inventories nationwide are just fine/low on GLS550

cincy8 04-04-2017 11:24 PM

Thanks for your input. Sad about the past.

At what point is the 2018 actually able to be ordered and they know Dealer allocation dates?

Number8 04-05-2017 08:38 AM

Appreciate this information, re: 2018 GLS DOG was released on March 24th. Is it true that once the dealerships have the ordering guide, they can start to place orders for customers or do they also need to wait for the pricing to be announced before starting the bill of sale?

I assume the GLS DOG is only available in the US for now. Do you happen to know when it'll be released in Canada?

Have they changed the front fenders for the 2018 GLS350/450?

fabbrisd1 04-06-2017 03:09 AM

Dealer can "config" the order in Netstar now - yes, that is without confirmed MSRP for the base vehicle - and without MSRP on some option/packages that have minor changes.

Production allocation for July will be issued "soon" - best to have specs/your-rig with dealer so when it opens you can have 1st cracj.

I expect July/early Aug production will be :stacked up" for what I personally expect to be early/mid-August release.

Number8 04-06-2017 11:13 AM

They have our specs for the gls (from the previous order) but the dealer said they cannot prepare the bill of sale without the 2018 pricing being available, and they can only place the order when a bill of sale is signed/completed. I do hope you are correct about the August 2017 eta :). Hopefully it's really just another 4 months to finally get a gls.

Kalaika 04-07-2017 03:53 AM

What about the GLE43W4? Is the DOG out too? Any new info? Thanks

fabbrisd1 04-08-2017 03:16 AM

DOG's are in dealers hands now fort all 2018 SUV's - except G-Wagen

Please let me know if there will be any type of interior change on 2018 GLS 450.

fabbrisd1 04-11-2017 09:59 AM

On the "let me know.. about this" - frankly, with DOG's for all 2018 SUV's (except G-Wagen) in the hands of your MB dealer - that's your job to chase with your dealer -

Number8 04-13-2017 11:25 AM

I just contacted our dealership today and they said that they have no information on the 2018 GLS yet. I guess not all dealerships have the DOG yet?

fabbrisd1 04-15-2017 01:43 AM

All US dealers can pull down the 2018 DOG - however, 2018 prices have not been formally set - expected "about the same" as 2017.. so the salesman you talked to was lazy - or new/low-minion without Netstar access except thru his management..

Number8 05-11-2017 12:25 AM

Any news on the pricing for the GLS? My dealer does not have the pricing nor do they even have the DOG! I guess we're a little behind on the Canadian side.

does anyone know how the 2018 GLS look like? Are there any pics available at this time?

2018 will look the same most likely no big changes if any.

Number8 07-03-2017 02:40 AM

Pricing is out at MBUSA!

I just noticed that Mbusa recently posted the 2018 GLS prices. Not much difference in the msrp and the vehicle looks virtually the same as the 2017. Hoping the prices and more details will be out soon on the Canadian side as my dealer still has no news.

ZeeGee 07-03-2017 02:52 AM

Premium 1 package now also requires Driver Assistance, so it's basically a $6k option now. Other than that, didn't notice much difference.

That's ridiculous!

fabbrisd1 07-04-2017 02:40 PM

It's ridiculous because that post got it backwards - meaning Driver' Assistance Package required Premium 1 - it's not the oether-way-around meaning P1 does not require DA.

This has not changed - if I remember correctly prior years as well Driver's Assistance has ALWAYS required P1.
