Rear side airbags?
Another option I'm not sure about is rear side airbags.
My kids are young adults but I don't want to preclude the car getting used for kids, or sold later for same. We do have 1 baby grandchild.
I thought I saw that rear side airbags shouldn't be used for kids?
Thanks for any clarification..

Indeed, rear side airbags shouldnt be used for kids, if your kids are in baby seats. There is only a small clearance between the door and the seat and the airbag deployment will just shoot the seat to the other side of the car...

Yes - rear side airbags are a selectable option - "most" customers don't order - due to the independent controversy regarding added risk for small (and more recent added risk for the elderly) 2nd row passengers.
