Not exactly a level playing field comparing the new X7 (which will not be on dealer lots until March) to the current and some aging models of other manufacturers. I'm certain such comparisons will be plentiful when the X167 is released next year.

I totally agree with you Joe but the comparison is pretty interesting in that the GLS still stacks up pretty well now. It should pull ahead when the X167 is released next year.

"Next year" - could be earlier than you think..

It’s funny cause this is the exact list of vehicles that has mattered most to me over the course of the last few months. I sold a RR and have been contemplating a replacement.

Couldn’t pull trigger on Q7 (third row has 6” less room than GLS, and the exterior styling can’t be optioned out in an S line like manner)

Navi fanatstic interior accommodations but big vehicle and driving dynamics are obviously quite different than the others (most similar to RR, though)

X7 I had a deposit on and looks fantastic to me but the interior accommodations are truly perplexing. First row same as GLS. Second row same as GLS more or less but 1” less legroom. Third row significantly smaller. 2.5” less head and shoulder room and 1.7” less legroom.

My bet is on GLS taking a nice leap forward as far as the interior goes, both in quality of materials and as far as the space goes. New GLE has 3” more legroom in the second row than the new X7. Assuming that carries over to GLS and they are able to find some more room in the third row AND the second row is electrically adjustable, the space should be best in class, just as it is today.

When MB unveiled the MayBach GLS-class prototype in April some articles mentioned a production MayBach GLS could be revealed at the LA Auto Show (Nov-Dec). If that's still the plan, MB would likely be revealing the GLS at the same time. Has anyone heard anything more on that front?
