Thanks Greg - if I did the math correctly, the new 580 will achieve significantly better fuel mileage than the outgoing 550 .... with the increased hp and torque ... I was hoping for a greater tow rating, but .....
Thanks for sharing, Steve

The tow rating in the press release is 3500 KG or 7700lbs but the tongue weight limit in the release is only shown as 140KG or 309 lbs. I think that is a typo. in the past it was 8% of the tow rating so 280kg or 617 lbs. Also my Canadian information on the changes to the new GLS model included "increased towing capacity" so more clarification is needed. Canadian vehicles usually follow most US specifications but are just packaged differently.

You are correct. That's what it is for the GLE which shares the same tow rating.

I was wondering how much quicker the new GLS450 would be with the EQ boost and on page 18 it's 5.7 seconds from 0 - 100/kmh and on page 75 it's 6.2

I would think the 6.2s is correct. the 0-60 kph for the GLE 450 is listed at 5.7 and the GLS 450 weighs 495 lb. more. That would be a 0-60 mph of about 6.0.

That makes sense. I remember the I6 engines being smooth but not very powerful like the 1990 E300. I'm sure the new I6 with EQ boost is very different but the 3.0 liter biturbo V6 is a beast, so at least on paper the new 450 is not much faster then
