GLS 450 build order
We returned our 2018 GLS 450 early Feb as I had all but decided to buy the Model X but decided against it.
Just placed an order for our 3rd GLS and was told that the current timeframe is around 3-4 months.
Reading up on previous threads and the GLE threads I see that there is quite a bit of overall delay at the factory.
If you have a GLS 450 on order, what kind of build time are you looking at?

3-4 months sounds about right, I ordered mine in early December and the expected delivery is late March. If you do decide to order, I’d recommend getting the dashcam option (21U) and be aware that the wood steering wheel can be heated.
I also considered the model X and after driving it for a few days on a test drive program, it was really not worth the price. As someone has said here, it’s a very expensive car with really a Honda level interior. And the driving range for me was really just not sufficient for my needs.

I did get the wood steering wheel with the heated option. However did not get the Dashcam or Augmented reality option as we always use Waze with apple CarPlay and I have a Thinkware F800PRO Dashcam with a rear camera that came off from my previous GLS.

I put my order in early Feb and was told I could get it June.
Was told again last week that I would get it July.
So I cancelled and will look for anything on current inventory.

I was seriously willing to wait until July, and my dealer gave me a $2,000 reduction from MSRP if I waited. However, I have a planned two week road trip in June and really wanted to get used to the vehicle before the trip. So it was a non-negotiable for me. The challenge with buying whatever is on inventory is that there were a lot of options that I really wanted that was missing.

I just got an update of early June, will wait and see what happens.

One data point: I ordered one last August, and it came in wrong in Nov (they forgot to put the pano roof on the order). I really wanted my exact specs, so I reordered in early Dec, and they just called yesterday to say it will be in next week.

I ordered in mid-November with 3rd decade Feb build date. Build date was pushed out to 1st decade March in mid-Feb. So far, no VIN and no updates at the end of the first week in March. The 48V issue is making me nervous, so I'm fine with the delays so they have have more time to root-cause the 48V failures.

Each order comes with a Build Sheet that shows individual options (including prices for each option) and of course the total sum of the prices and additional charges.
This build sheet is given to the customer who is supposed to check it to satisfaction and sign that it is acceptable.
This is how I purchased my last two MBs (with two different dealers), and this is how I am purchasing my GLS (with another dealer).

There have a been a few threads in the GLE forum with 48V battery failures that render the car inoperable. The GLS uses the same 48V system. Here are a couple of them:

Here’s my sales person’s last update, second decade build March (3/19). Delivery supposedly late March, but this message seems a little cryptic.
”I checked and there is no change with your scheduled date as of yet. There is an issue with availability of micro chips across all manufacturers but hoping that should be resolved by the time yours is built.”
That’s gonna be resolved in a couple of weeks?

Last weekend I test drove the GLS580, and as a result cancelled the GLS450 order and placed a GLS580 order.
Rationale was that I was able to get the GLS580 with the options that we needed below the price of a new Model X that I was going to initially purchase.
Currently on mid June build schedule and approximately a one month delay as of now compared to the GLS450. So hopefully will receive the vehicle sometime in July.

Did you not get a build sheet to check and sign?
