Sold 2006 C230 Sport -- Now Runs

*SOLD* Hey everyone...if you know anyone interested in fixing a 2006 C230 sport that won't start I'm selling one.

I suspect it is the timing chain (cranks, won't start and can here the chain rattle when cranking) but not sure if it is the balance shaft that is known to go on these engines or something else. It doesn't have the usual fault codes and only has the code for the left exhaust cam.

I have pics and the vehicle posted on CL here http://honolulu.craigslist.org/oah/cto/4769751894.html

Attached are the original and current codes pulled as well as the vehicle data card

Ok I have confirmed it is not the timing chain so that is good. The noise was actually the AC pulley rattling because it had fallen apart! :) Car still won't start so need to do the basic trouble shooting -- fuel/air/spark/compression.
If someone picks this up before I get it fixed will get a great deal ;)

can you tell me what ended up being wrong with your car? I have a 2006 that is doing the exact same thing. Tried a ton of stuff. pretty sure balancer is good since the holes lined up perfectly at 305* after changing crankshaft and camshaft sensors

it had dirty air filters and had sat for a long time. After bypassing the AC compressor that was making the noise i kept cranking it over until it started. It gradually kept wanting to start more and more. Just be careful not to burn up the starter doing it too long at a time. I connected DAS to it and made sure no other issues were wrong. You mention changing crank and cam sensors though before getting everything to line up so may have something else going on.
