2005 C55 vs 2006 E55

Ok guys.. let me start off by saying I was really surprised by the outcome of this race.
It started out today when I was on my way to work. I Made a left on the light and starting heading down the street when I saw an e55 pulling out of a gas station about 200 yrds away from me.. so i stepped on it to have some fun.. The guy has a black e55 with chrome rims.
we ended up at the light when he looked at me i looked at himand we both nodded our heads. he rolled down the window and told me to start from a 30 roll because his first gear isnt as strong so i agreed and we started in second gear. He honked and we took off. I jumped half a car ahead. By the time i looked down at the speedometer we were reaching 100 mph and I pull one full car length. We met up at the light again and he started asking me if my car was supercharged or if I had anything major done to the car to be able to beat him. I laughed and replied no... lol nothing really that i know of besides the secondary cats and resonator replaced with a straight pipe..
so I asked if we could try from 10 mph and we did.. to my surprise again i pulled a car and a half.. Guy gave me thumbs up at the next light and said "My car is completely stock, It should be beating you but hey you might have a chip or sometjhing helping you.. I Dont know what it was but the weather def. has a lot to do with it!! its 70 degress here nice cold and windy..
Thanks guys!! Input greatly appreciated!
And If the e55 guy is here Awesome race man!!

2006 E55 with a supercharger? he must have a bad intercooler pump.

at least he was nice. good race. i dont think a fully N/A modified C55 can keep up with a stock S/C (W211) E55 though.

Definitely a bad intercooler pump. E55 > C55 1/4 mile on up.

Something is definitely wrong here...and he said his first gear is not as strong? WTF?

At 30, he should still be in first gear.

The E55 shouldn't have raced. All he did was embarass himself. If your car isn't running right, fix it and make it right BEFORE you race!

That's what I'm thinking.

If he was starting in 2nd gear (and had a good I/C pump), would it be plausible?

"1st gear isn't as strong"? WTF? Did he have it in non-sport mode or something?

we start off the line, guy steps on it and I quickly realize its on, with a little delay I follow, at around 20 mph E55 slightly pulls maybe by 3 ft or so I think cause he had a slight jump on me, at around 50 mph I start gaining back the lost 3ft and by 70 I start pulling slightly ahead at which point there is no more room to race so we shut it down..

Not sure what this has to do with the orginal post...especially since we do not know what car you have.

I have seen healthy E55's running into the low 11's with sticky rears and an over-drive pulley and a few minor mods. A stock one is a low 12 sec car. No way a C55 is going to go into the low 12's without a shot of NOS. From the OP's siggy he is getting low 13's out of it and that is very good for that car. Two things could be happening: 1.) the C-klasse is lighter by a mile and that makes them quick off the line and in a street drag that is everything. There is no room to get big speed on the big end. I am guessing that was not the case since the OP said he hit 100. 2.) The E55 is sick. Bad intercooler pump, or slipping SC pulley/belt/clutch or bad trans. His statement that his car was not good in first makes me wonder. The cooler pump is the most common flaw and if the owner is not up to speed on that may or may not notice it. I had a C32 for several years with a C3P intake and overdrive pulley. That car was fast for a V6 and I never saw a C55 that could take it and I would never have beaten an E55 in a heads up drag. In fact it would run side by side even with an E92 M3 with the 7 spd SMG and those are 13 sec flat cars as well. To the OP, good kill. You got lucky. Should have bet him some money on the 3rd pass.

I've owned both cars. E55 Bone stock best was 12.54 at 115 and I had several dozen runs all with stock tires. . Best I could get with C55 was 13.01 at 104mph. If the intercooler pump was bad the heat sink in the E55 would drop power as others had suggested. Sometimes driving skill is worth a car length knowing where the power band is. As someone once said it's not the arrow its the Indian.

I have a w202 C55 and a 05 E55 wagon.

I love th e cars for different reasons in a straight line race, the 55 simply sprints away from the C. It's frighteningly quick.

sounds like a fun race though! But dont go racing other E55's
