Lost to a stock 2012 5.0 Mustang A/T vs w210 E55 w/ headers/tune
I have shorty headers and a tune, he was bone stock. His car is about 200lbs lighter and I'm about a 100lbs heavier than he is lol. Went a few pulls between 20-120 and I got walked.
He's got an extra gear, over 60hp stock more than me and 1tq less :p: but I've read these engines were underrated. Plus I've got headers and a tune, figured that gave me another 30hp No check engine lights on my end but the car does feel much weaker lately. Once in a while it feels like it has 40hp more at times, usually when it's under 55f outside. Best one was a cool night with 4 adults and I'm sure it pulled harder than with me alone versus the mustang. I gauge by how far back my moon roof visor slides when I kick down around 20mph :slap: Does this sound like a bad MAF? Will check fuel pressure next week. I have 170k but 80% highway and maintained at the dealer most of it's life. New air and fuel filters within 20k. Did that throttle reset and it made a very slight difference for me, placebo maybe. X-pipe and res delete piping came in today, but I really want to figure out what's making me lose power before we run again. Any other sensors to look into on these m113's? Thanks! |
My stock Clk55 has no chance against my bros 5.0. But with the C63 its a different story.
|
Your bros 5.0 stock? For sure my car was having a bad day. Going to swap out the maf, o2's, and whatever other sensors (cam/crank?) that can cause power loss. Others have had similar problems with the ecu leaning out. Performance returned when they ran with primary o2's disconnected, but CEL will be on.
|
You're still not gonna keep up with that car. They're pretty fast.
|
Stock versus stock the 1/4 mile times are very close. I think a properly running e55 with headers, tune, 2nd cat delete and X pipe has a good chance.
|
I thought those coyote 5.0's were running in the mid 12's, the same time as the E92 M3's.
|
I don't doubt they could get mid 12's easily, but saw some stock ones get low 13's on dragtimes.
|
Spent the weekend at the track and saw a bone stock '14 5.0 running 12.7. A set of drag radials and he could drop at least .2. Another lightly modded one (headers, cat delete, pump gas tune, CAI & drag radials) ran a best of 12.04. Not bad for what they cost. I haven't had to look at the taillights of one yet though. :)
|
I'll take another trip to Mexico for some more footage after I get a few more things done. Plan B is get a Jag and do a GM 4.8L 4l80e swap with F.I.
Awesome 65 BTW, plan on doing turbo upgrades? Debated on boosting the 55 but the rear suspension and driveline seems to grenade after 500-600tq. |
can we race now?
|
Lol changed my mind again, next project will be an e36 shpoolin 600whp safely on the stock engine, and 8k redline. No need for VTEC anymore.
I'll only race you now in the e55 if we race in reverse and I get a car length. Must get to the top of second reverse gear to win. |
Not making a comment about your car but....
The new V8 Mustangs are FAST:) |
It felt just as fast when I drove his car the day before. Broke traction much easier but he also had worn 245 pirelli low pros. Lol I try to avoid mustangs now.
Deleted secondary cats, res, and installed an x pipe. But I think the maf is bad. Very anemic when it's slightly warm out and runs much quicker when it's on a cold night. |
Stock Coyotes are no joke.
I have raced modded ones, and stock ones with my now sold 2005 CLK55. I had headers, renntech airbox, and tune. I ran 12.90's, I raced a new bone stock 2013 Auto 5.0, friend of friend. I would beat him out of the gate, and he would reel me in after the 1/8. I beat him each time due to R/T, but he was consistently 2-3mph faster than me trap speed wise. If he had more time at the wheel, I sure he would consistently run 12.7s to 12.8s. My other friend had a lightly modded one, basic exhaust, tune, and intake. Wasn't even close. He was running low 12's on streets, on the way there we raced from a roll. He walked me hard, and he had two passengers. I was solo. The N/A M113 is awesome, but the Coyote is a new era of performance. |
I was about to say WTF, and then I read you have a W210 E55, I assumed it was a W211.
|
Same buddy with a '14 A/T mustang GT is now running low-mid 11's with the addition of a stall converter, and drag tire/wheel setup and race gas. Make no mistake, those new mustangs are cheap to get into the 11's and a good driver can run 12's bone stock.
THEhomelessONE, I do not have any turbo upgrade plans right now, but I do plan to do a few things. Current goal is just to get down to an 10.6x. need to get there before I shoot for a 10.5..... :) |
I wouldn't be as irritated if it were Camaros or Challengers, but a Mustang.. ****ing Mustangs lol.
Your car is crazy, are you past 700whp? Any vids on youtube? I would imagine those v12's could take 1000hp without much worry. Haven't read of anyone finding their limits. |
I don'y have any clean dyno runs to know exactly where the car is, but I think around 700 FWHP, not at the rear wheels. I have HD video of every run I have made with the car, but I have never loaded it up on youtube. Only a couple early runs I have done on photobucket. The run below was one of the first times at the track & on 90 octane. I usually run high 10's on 90 now, 10.7-10.8 on 109. Shooting for 10.6's next summer. :)
NSFW! due to language, but if you can, turn up the volume, it is good for a laugh. My wife said she was going to move to her normal video spot but she heard these guys in the background and just had to stay where she was and tape their commentary. http://vid205.photobucket.com/albums...ps1a0bbf86.mp4 |

Lol nice vid Dr, the guy in the background really makes it seem like I'm there haha.
It's more the mustang driver stereotype versus the car itself :p No worries here, will have these mustangs crying to sleep with a little 2.5l e36. The e85 station near me needs to be used more often :) |
