2004 ml 500 making slight ticking noise audible from outside the car when fully warmed up. normal, not normal?

slight???normal....if it is really loud you might need lifters...have your dealer look at it

Same with ML320

We have a 2001 ML320 with 50K miles on it and also have a slight ticking sound at idle with a warm engine -- will have the MB dealer look at it.
