too much body roll
 

My 00 ML320 has too much body roll for my taste. Is there any company that makes sway bars for ML320 or does mercedes offer one that is stiffer than oem? Any suggestions on getting rid of body roll?

A simple way to reduce body roll is to tighten your front torsion bars. By increasing the stiffness, your ML will not tend to roll side to side. I did this to my former 2001 ML 320 and to my newer 2005 ML 500 with great results..

Try adjusting them around 7 quarter turns to start with. That is when you are using a wrench, just do 7 quarters of the wrench circle (quarter = 1 fourth of a full turn).

I am guessing that your shock absorbers are still working fine.. Though, trying the torsion bars adjustment always help.. When you tighten your torsion bars, your vehicle front will raise some.. Make sure you don't exceed 1.5" or you may be needing an alignment to avoid uneven tire wear...

I noticed a heck of a lot of body roll when I bought some used wheels that had tires on them with some tread left. I used them for a summer. The ML had a significant amount of body roll with these old tires. I eventually had new tires put on and the body roll went away!

how to tighten the torsion bars? Do it in dealer or I can do it myself?

Very easy to do, it will take you about 5 minutes to do both sides..

I have attached the images of where the adjusting bolts are. Make sure you have the right size wrench and with the right size socket that fits tight.. 1/2" wrench with a long handle works the best..

Try the 7 quarter turns first, on both sides, and without exceeding 1.5" as the max.. Keep count of what you do.. After doing the 7 quarter turns, on both sides, drive it around before you adjust it more since the steering/wheel geometry changes and needs to settle down to it's natural position..

Measure the height from the floor to the lip fender before the adjustments.. and measure the resulting height after you adjust it and have driven it around..
