"mbdoctor" has them on ebay occasionally for $799. Search for "mercedes mcs" on ebay. It could be your disc. See them on ebay also. Borrow a friends and see if it is the disc before you buy a new unit. Or, did Benz already try that?

I bought my unit, including an '05 NAV disk, on ebay for $699 and installed it myself. I didn't have one so my "bay" in the MCS for installation was empty. I feel $1800 is crazy. It was very easy to install. You just remove the "MCS" unit with the keys from Benz ($9) - I used a finger nail file that fit perfectly and released the locks! Remove your old one and plug the new one right back in where it was. I did have to take it in to Benz to have it "version coded" so the car would recognize that a NAV system was installed and to get the voice. That was just under $100. The navigation will work when you install it but you won't have the voice without having it version coded. I'm wondering if you have a CD player installed and not a NAV system in that bay??? Another option is to have Alpine repair it if in fact your NAV unit is broken. Talk to them. Might be a less expensive option. http://www.alpine-usa.com/support/se...r/00,00,01.htm

the navi disk is behind the flip down panel of the radio.it came with the car.
so the euro is plug and play but need to go to dealer to enable voice activation. can you post a pic of the unit. does it have the flip down screen ?
thanx a bunch

There is a unit on ebay right now for $799. Item no. 8064984182 I'm not sure why you'd want a "Euro command unit" Your address shows you as being in the good old USA. I'm not even sure that would work in your ML. This (same as one for sale on ebay) is the unit I installed in my '03 ML although I bought mine from another seller WITH an '05 DVD NAV disk. I have the "flip-down" screen on my MCS. You don't want to contact Alpine and see if they might be able to fix yours? Might save yourself a few hundred dollars.

Glad to have helped. Hope it all works out with Alpine. I've heard they are pretty good with fixes and a lot cheaper than the dealers.
