ML 320 cdi air suspension

We are about to order a 2007 ML320cdi and are considering the air suspension package, however, I have one salesman telling me that the ride will not be any different to the standard suspension and another saying that it will soften up the bumps and potholes, ....has anyone out there been able to do a side by side comparison....tks

If you post this in the W164 section you may get a better response.

It is hard to imagine that airmatic will feel the same as conventional suspension. salesman will tell you anything if they have a car in the lot they want to move.

ask him. how about height and damper control are they the same too?

Check with the W164 section they should have more to add.

I have driven both, the air suspension is superior both in ride and because you can adjust it, soft when the family is in the back and sports when you are alone - and it does make a difference.

You can also set it to give you greater ground clearance off-road (I am not sure if this is only available on the off-road package) and I believe it 'crouches' at higher speeds for extra stability.

The only disadvantage to air suspension might be in lower reliability and the possibility of future high repair costs.

Still, better to do the job properly if you can afford it.
