Performance Air intake for ML 430

2001 ML 430
Performance Air intake for ML 430
I have been searching high and low for a performance intake for a 2001 ML 430 and I have only found one from RENNtech. Unfortunately they are a little too proud of it at a price of +/- $2,700.00. Does anyone know of an aftermarket fabricator that can make a product similar to what K&N makes for a lot of american cars? I found a group out of San Diego that will do a proto-type if we can get +/- 10 - 15 parties interested. They sell their typical units for about $150- $175 per unit and they dyno test and the whole thing. I assume it would have to be good for about 10 ponies.

Are you talking about a cold air intake?
Weapon-R makes a cold air intake intake for the ML320.

Thank you for the feedback and info on the Weapon R. I have an email into a customer service rep to see if they have an application for the ML 430.
BTW - I am not looking for this to be a miracle and make a 5k lbs truck, with only 268 HP, run circles around a 911. But this, in combination with an exhaust system and remapping the chip, should get me another 20-30 HP and that is about where I want to be.

We manufactured a few at ESR...
Sounds great, and I think gives you a better throttle response. Dyno results to follow.

Chris - I sent you an email requesting more info. I like what I see! I would want to just go for a subdued look like a carbon or black color, no AMG colors on my ride to match to if you know what I mean. THX
