QUICK noob question.. need help 1998 ML 320 SPEAKER SIZE?
I TRIED search with no luck.. hopefully ill just get a quick reply..
ok im looking for new speakers for my ML 320 / non bose / 1998.... i wanted to replace the speakers in it... i know the fronts are 6.5 how about the rears? i heard both 5.25 and 6.5 ... can someone please tell me what size the rears are
and also... i need advice for some decent speakers.. im not going for show.. just want something clear and just good all arounds... i was looking at ALPINE type s series speakers.. so like $100s a pair something around there.. any recomendations? just need to get as good as i can get without busting the bank! thanks again!
EDIT... so this morning i called crutchfield of course with no real help.. i pulled off the rear door panel measured our that i have room for a 5.25 they swore that all their documentations said i would not be able to fit them... as i will not have the DEPTH room for them... they were wrong... there is an adapter plate which houses a very small and slimmer STOCK speaker with mounting holes for a 5.25 just around them... it was very easy to get to...

ok so i pullled out the fronts.. very easy to do... pop off wood handle trim.. remove the two screws.. then door panel pops off.. .it is a 6.5 speaker that fits in the well.... very easy to spot... i am deciding between components and coaxials.... very tough.....
now my question is for a sub.. i see that i measure 8 inches will fit where the old trunk mounted changer went.... i could have sworn i saw a changer/trunk mounted sub from another ML already done? does anyone have a link to that thread... or know where it was.. i cant seem to find it...id love to investigate a similar approach to install
