"wait" message
My cousin has a 2001 ML320 and his radio keeps saying WAIT.
I went to the dealership and got the security code and disconnected the battery but the WAIT message was still there. What do i do? please help! and sorry if there is a pervious post on this i am just trying to help my cousin out while i am still in town with him Thanks |
The WAIT message comes on when the code has been entered 3 times incorrectly. The first time the WAIT will stay on for about 5-10 minutes. After another 3 incorrect tries the WAIT time increases. Depending on which model radio you have it could take up to 24 hours for the WAIT to go off.
The radio MUST be left ON in the Wait mode for the wait time to expire. Turning off the radio, removing the power, removing the radio for 1 year, like my father did on his 190E, will NOT remove of shorten the WAIT time. Mike |

LOL! You got me cracking there Mike! In my head, I had this pic of your dad completely perplexed 12 months later why the WAIT was still on! Sounds exactly like something my dad will do.

... A year later I inherited the 190E and found the radio while cleaning out my fathers house. It took 24 hours on my work bench, connected to a 12v power supply and turned on, before the WAIT returned to CODE. I entered the code and voila, the radio worked. I then reinstalled it into the 190E and it's still working to this day.
