ml320 won't start

my 01 ml320 won't start.the key turns but nothing. all the warning lights are on. After several trial it starts. Drove 20miles home no problem. Turn it off, it started. then it wont start:crazy: I notice a whining noise under the hood, passenger side, even after the ignition is switched off. please help>

ml320 starter

I'm posting this in the event someone have the same problem. I changed the starter, that solved the problem.
