100W Fog light bulbs instead of 35W, Will it set the car on fire?
Hey, I bought Xenon 100W and replaced the regular 35w.. noticed they're getting unbelievably hot very fast. Is that normal? Or am i drawing way too much power?
|
Yes you
are drawing to much. You are going to toast either the sockets or the harness.
Or the lens:eek: instead of drawing 3amps you are pulling 8.5amps. Why didn't you ask this before you bought them? Fogs are for fog they are not running lights. You defeated the purpose of the fog lamps to pose, then you risked damage to the car for want of asking a question before opening your wallet. |
The first clue that something is amiss is the wording "Xenon 100W" in the OPs post.

You should switch the bulbs back ASAP, before you set your car on fire. The sockets and the harness are just not designed for a current almost three times higher.

I highly recommend that you buy a good fire extinguisher and keep it handy all the time.:smash:

Mike Besides 100w bulbs, does anyone else have a better solution on getting more light out of the stock hella fog lamps? |
I melted the lenses on mine. I had changed them in other vehicles with no problems
|
Yes
a suggestion. Look for yellow lenses or if an H1 like system use selective yellow bulbs and follow tinting directions to color lens yellow
from sites such as the guru of automotive lighting. www.danielsternlighting.com Yellow light cuts through fog rain and snow. |
Does anyone make yellow lenses for the ML

Love the smell of plastic in the morning :rcain:
|
yeah..
Im not going to use them, and il just replace them tomorrow... they do get **** hot.. and I really dont want to set that car on fire.
