Where does it go

Wedged between the frame and body, right rear is a dust cover part # A 163 988 00 35 which according to MB parts on line is a dust cover. It is a black dome that has three bolt covers Where did it come from?

Thanks
John

EPC shows nothing for that part number. Are you sure that is the right number?

The part number is A 163 988 00 35 Google search reveals it is a dust cover. But from where?

This is the closest I could get to what you are referring to. It protects the adjustment screw for the torsion bar/front spring.

That part does not come up in the catalog.
I assume it is part of a kit/assembly or discontinued.

The part and its number comes straight from EPC net, M/B on-line parts list.

What catalogue are you referring to?

Yes, I have EPC, and cross checked the part number = it is a valid MB#.

We have access to a lot catalogs, but in this case I was referring to the MB price catalog.

If it was a valid stand alone part, it would have come up with a listing/price.

Usually:
* This means MB only offers it as part of a KIT or assembly.
* The part is no longer available through MB.

M/B is very precise when it comes to parts and their numbers. If it was included in a kit, the part would look exactly like #68 or #70.

If it was discontinued it would so state.

Did you ever consider the possibility that it was mistakenly excluded from the price list?

You guys did all this work and the OP only posted twice, 15 days ago, with no pictures which would have made all the difference in Id'ing this part.

Yes, I did consider a data entry error, which is why I qualified my answer.

Yes I understand that Mike, but the tail end of this thread was about parts and their nomenclature and nothing more.
