'98 ML remodel completed...
Back in June I decided to do some work on my early '98 ML320 to give it an update and restyling. It wasn't bad, a silver/gray with M1, cold weather package, 18" Lorinsers, factory flares, Remus exhaust, etc., but I'd just lost interest in it compared to my '01 M3. Some minor front bumper damage was the impetus to start the project.
Here is the before, after removing the broken PIAA 520 fogs:
I got the front bumper replaced, had all the gray bodywork painted out body color, and added the later model stainless brush guard at a body shop. Then on my own, I replaced the headlights with bi-xenons, '03 taillights, ML55 grille, new floor mats and interior chrome pieces, chrome rear hatch handle, Bilstein shocks, and just this weekend finished with Hella chrome FF200 fogs and the rear tailgate filler panel.
The Hellas I had to get from Germany, as the chromes were not yet available in the US. They are neat because all the beam shaping is done by the reflector, so the lens can be clear:
Here they are with PIAA Ion Crystal lamps:\
And here's the rear with the filler panel, chrome handle and Remus muffler:
A fun project, and makes me enjoy the truck again until I replace it in a couple years.

I frankly don't know if it added any power--I would doubt it did much. However, it sounds and looks better, so that's enough for me.
