Key Fob Wont Stay Programed

Someone please help me out here before I go Insane.

2001 ML320 Key Fob won’t reset correctly, I go through the steps,

Position 2, hold lock, press unlock 5 times, 3 times or 10 times tried them all, then release and press any of the three keys, I have tried them all btw. The fob Resets and works on that last key I press but does not stay working, it only works once. I have tried the trunk button atthe end as I read that might work but still nothing!

How do I reset this fob, its clearly making a connection but it won’t stay, I have tried taking the positive wire of my battery just to reset the brains and try again and still nothing.

Any help! Thanks!

There is only one correct method for your 2001 ML. Key to position 2, back to position 0 and remove it, within 60 seconds press and hold lock, press unlock 5 times, release lock button, press any button (except panic).

If it keeps losing synch, it may need fresh batteries. Your key fob needs power to calculate the new code each time.

If the batteries are OK, your key may be faulty. Buy a spare from your dealer.

If your spare loses synch, your AAM is faulty. That's more expensive than a key.

Or the battery contacts are loose and need to be tightened up.

Or the batteries and contacts need to be cleaned of any contamination.
