CD-Changer question for all you audio gurus
My parents just recently bought an ML320 but it didnt come with a cd changer. I have an extra alpine changer laying around but i was wondering if i could hook it up to the wires inside the original cd changer compartment. Would it still work *** good as a factory one? thanks

Depending on the year, your ML will use different kinds of changers.
1998-1999 will use a Panasonic-compatible changer.
2000 MCS will use a different Panasonic-compatible changer; it can also use a fibre optic changer if you run the wires (Alpine or Becker manufactured, Mercedes/Becker/US Audio-branded).
2001+ can only use the fibre optic changers. Some years may use a Panasonic-compatible changer if you run the wiring. I am not sure where the cut-off is for the Panasonic functionality being removed, I believe it is starting 2002 (or with the advent of TeleAid).
