W163 2001 ML430, Brake pad & Parking brake warning
 

Hello everybody, i am not new here i have not posted at all.

A little intro. I have two amazing mercs a W202 C200 with 360 000 km on the clock that i took over from my mother we have had the car since new. A recently a W163 ML 430. Sitting at 216 000 km.

The problem i am having right now is after going on holiday with the ML on very dusty roads and desert roads and a lot of corrugations the brake pad warning light and parking brake warning light (with very annoying beeps) light up randomly and i cannot get it to stop so i am now to the forum.

The light will flash randomly when
Accelerating from 0 to 40 km/h, or on the highway when i need to overtake
Braking ( flash intermittently no sound)
Dead stop( stay on until i pull away then proceed to beep)

Please help me

Check your brake pads. The warning light is telling you that they are worn.

I had the pads checked, they still have 80% left on them.

Then check the brake pad wear sensor. After that check the fluid level.

the little sensors in the brake hub unit are probably old or have moved. i had the same symptoms when i had mine first replaced and they just needed to reseat them properly in he allocated space. its just a contact issue, easy fix :)

As to the Parking Brake light w/beeping, have you checked to see that the pedal is fully up?
