How much pad life should be left when the light comes on? It seems like the sensor makes contact long before the pad thickness reaches critical levels. Vehicle is a 2000 ML320 and pads, rotors and wear sensors are all from Mercedes.

There's enough life left until the light coming on turns to intermittent beeping, then almost constant beeping, which forces you to replace the pads unless you want to go insane. If you drive daily you can expect this to progress over 2-3 weeks.

You can try to ignore it until the pistons contact the rotors if you like.
