ML W163 1999 - F5 Fuel Guage fuse?

Hi,
after a recent fuel fill up my fuel guage went to 0 and stayed there. After hunting around various forums I hear that this can be reset by removing the F5 fuse in the auxiliary fuse box. All the diagrams and pictures for ML's 2001 onwards show this to be located in the pax side footwell. It is not on mine. RHD the bonnet release catch is where the diagrams show it. Rang the stealership who had never heard of this fix but offered to sell me a new sender unit! They also said they had no idea where the fuel guage fuse would be located??? Can anyone shed any light on this please prior to further checking?
Thanks
John
