Ok wife filled the car with gas soon after she left the Check engine light came on the low fuel indicator started to blink and it began to sputter and not want to drive. What could cause this?

No she didnt put diesel in. I had her unplug the battery to reset the system so she could get to where she was going. On her way home it happened again.

Ok I had the check engine light checked at auto zone.
1. Mass air flow circuit x2
2. Evaporative emission system leak detected (gross leak/no flow)
3. Fuel trim (bank 1)
4. Fuel trim (bank 2)
I'm assuming these vehicles dont like excessive heat this is 2 summers in a row I've had issues. Spring winter and fall she runs like a champ...

1. Please UPDATE YOUR PROFILE in USER CP to include the year and where you live.
2. Since you had the codes read, it is your responsibility to post the code numbers.
3. None of these codes will prevent the veh. from starting. But the fuel trim codes are appearing because there is a lack of fuel.

Code numbers are
P0100
P0455
P0173
P0170
I never said there was a starting issue. The sputtering has since gone away but the check engine light is still there obviously and the blinking fuel light is still there... how do I fix the blinking fuel light and the fuel trim issue?

The fuel system is pressurized and if the fuel cap is not tightened enough, or the seal on the cap is faulty, you will get these types of codes.

The fuel cap is only 3 years old I bought a new one when I bought the car because it had the same code. Is it possible the seal went bad that fast?

Then you would have to have the Evap. System smoke tested, but all of the codes point to fuel delivery issues because it is not pressurized.
Also, I'm not telling you to buy a $200 part. It's only a gas cap.
