MB COMAND 2.0 head unit replacement. HELP!
Hello everyone,
I have purchased a Joying head unit (double Din 7 inches) to replace my MB COMAND 2.0 on My 2002 ML 55 AMG.
My COMAND 2.0 system seems to be fiber optic, and my new head unit when connected via the provided ISO harness powers up normally but no sound is coming out.
Are you guys aware of any solutions to adapt my Joying head unit to the fiber optic system without having to re-wire everything?
Help much appreciated.
Pierre.

2004 ML350
I replaced the head unit in my 2004 ML350 with an Atoto head unit. Installation is the same for the Joying head unit.
I wasn’t able to find a simple way to connect an aftermarket head unit into the MB fiber optic system. So I bypassed all the fiber optic stuff.
Like you, I used an ISO harness to power up the system. Wiring the speaker was a little challenging but pretty straight forward using information from the forum members. To connect the speakers I disconnected the harness at the amp under the driver’s side dash and spliced the speaker leads from the Atoto harness to the proper leads in the harness I disconnected from the amp. Do a search in this forum for ‘radio’ to get the correct pin to splice.
It was pretty straight forward. I got up and running using the amp in the head unit to drive the speakers. Sounded gooood.
Later I rewired the hold thing. Added a four channel amp to drive the door speakers and a 12” sub driven by a mono amp for bass. Now it sounds great!
