I removed the cables, the two screws for the mounting plate, but the battery still will not budge. Is it a screw missing? The plate (black one that used to mount battery in place with the two screws) doesn't even come out with both screws removed

Use a heavy screwdriver to pry the plate off.

me and another guy stood in the back seat and pulled up on the batter it wouldn't even budge. The plate being unscrewed will still make it that hard?

First of all, you are on the wrong forum.
https://mbworld.org/forums/m-class-w164-72/

Have you tried prying the plate off as I suggested? Why do you ask for help and then ignore the suggestion or not comment on it?
