Should I replace Transmission filter and fluid?

I just passed 170,000 miles and I have to replace the transmission mount. I know these transmissions are sealed and they say no maintenance but should I replace the trans filter and fluid while I'm under the truck anyway? It shifts through all gears with no problems as it is now. Will changing the fluids and filter cause any problems that don't now exist? Thanks for the feedback.

Yes change the fluid and filter.

Hey Major, I drained the fluid from my transmission pan and replaced the filter. I added the same amount of fluid that I previously drained. Upon reading the newest transmission fluid changed post I realize I only replaced about half of the fluid in the trans. Do you think that is enough or should I go through the process of removing and adding more? I've never had any problems with the shifting this is all just preventative maintenance for me.

The remainder is in the torque converter.

You must get a dipstick to check for the proper fluid level.
