My ML320 W163 Broke
I have a 98 ML320 with 175000 miles. It has a broken (BROKEN !) front diff.
Apparently, the ring gear broke which broke the housing. It will roll a short distance until part interference in the housing. Then it LOCKS UP !
I'm on the fence about parting it out and scrapping what's left or replacing the front diff and selling it. Never having replaced a front diff, I'm looking for some advice.
It was a 1-owner and has NO RUST and has no damage history. The interior is sweet.
Anyone's thoughts ?

It's a tough call. You will need a lift for this job, know someone who will let you use the lift or pay someone to remove and install.
If you choose to replace the T-case and upon removal you discover that the trans. is damaged, how do you return the used T-case.
It's 21 yrs. old and think about how muck you will get for it, with or without replacing the T-case.

I have the tools and skills to R/I the diff, tho I've never done it before on an MB.
I'm into the car 'right' and can pick up a replacement at the local yard which specializes in foreign cars.
