Call M/B with your vin# ready and they will give you the code.

I called a dealer and gave them my vin, and they told me the code was 46312 but when I enter the number nothing happens... either its a broken head unit or maybe it was replaced at some point; which is why I was trying to see if the serial number on the head unit would turn up a different code.....

Are you using the correct procedure?

Thanks Major, I follow the process of entering the code then pressing the "OK" soft key, and nothing happens. The soft key doesn't work. So I think the head unit is faulty at this point, I was just trying to be thorough about the code.

Since the head unit gives no response to the "OK" key, I will have to find a replacement. Is there a double din compatible unit on the market that slots right in and works with the existing amps and speakers?

With a Metra harness/adapter and a double-DIN - preferable with Pre-Out Voltage 3V+ to properly "drive" the system in your car.

BeachFreak,
Did you give the dealership a serial # for the radio itself (since the original radio may have be swapped out)?
Did you check for it in your owner's/user's manual (if it cam with your suv)? - it may have been written in there...somewhere

Solved!

I paid $100 to pull this deck from a 2002 that was being sold for parts- sounds great !!
