Few questions from newbie..

I am receving my '02 ML320 few hours later, here are some questions:

1. Does every ML comes with Anti-Theft system and recovery tracking device?

2. This car has only 32K miles, will the factory warranty be carried on automatically?

3. Do I need to register myself with M-Benz dealer to be a owner?

Hi, congratulations on your new vehicle, I really like the M-class.

1) No, not every ML comes with that.

2) The factory warranty should be transferrable.

3) I never registered myself when I've purchased used vehicles. Whether you NEED to or not, I can't comment on what kind of forces may interact with your actions.

You have to adjust the volume while the woman in the nav is actually speaking with the volume controls on the stereo.

Yes, like the previous post said.

However, you really should call Mercedes documentation department and get a manual. Apparently you'll need both the Owner's Manual and the MCS Manual.

Recovery tracking could be added as an aftermarket device, so there's no set way to figure out if it has it.

OEM tracking is part of the TeleAid, so you will need to look up at the dome light and see if there is an "SOS" button. If so, then you will need to subscribe to TeleAid, check with a Mercedes dealership.

Anti-theft alarm, most Mercedes have (but not all). Try sitting in the car with the key removed, locking the doors with the remote, waiting 2-3 minutes, then opening the door.

Nearly all Mercedes in the US have DAS, drive authorization system, which requires a transponder and microchip in the key to communicate with the ignition system and provide the correct passkey back before allowing the car to start.

1) Yes, every single ML (from '98 to now) has the Anti-Theft system, and all ML's from 2001-up come with the equipment for TeleAid (which allows for remote aid and recovery tracking, plus other things (general questions, specific navigational questions, remote systems diagnosis, accident response, etc.). However, to activate this, you have to subscribe to MB's TeleAid service through your dealer.

2) Yes.

3) I don't believe you have to do anything, but ask your stealership for more info...

2) Yes.
Both of those are completely untrue... I've seen plenty of MLs in Europe and Australia that included neither of those things (ATA, TeleAid, or transferrable warranty beyond 1 year). Not ALL MLs have that.

The Teleaid option is on all U.S. build m classes and Navi options are on U.S. build and a few ECE build m classes. Its like the Cell phone options, U.S. the dealer installs it, ECE you get eather the Nokia removable phone while some of you for some unknown reason still get the phone with that bulky cord; but by far ECE buyers have many more options.
