Replacement shocks>>

does anyone have a good source for replacement shocks for a 98 ML320? I was thinking about getting Bilstein HD's, but it doesn't look like they make a rear shock for this model. Anyone who has upgraded the suspension, are you happy with your choices? Thanks.

According to Bilstein, the old Part Number for the W163 Rear Shock, BE5-2984, is out of production. I may have gotten the last set!

I switched to Bilsteins and left everything else stock. It could be better. I think the Bilsteins should be re-valved for the ML - they're too hard. I'm going to look into that, as well as new springs and possibly replacing the rear sway bar. Ours is hollow. AMG and RennTech offer better, solid bars.

Koni used to make coil-overs for the ML, but I hear that's been discontinued as well.

Other choices include Kleeman, Lorinser, RennTech, H&R and Eibach for the springs. Also, I read somewhere that H&R is getting in the shock business now, too!

In retrospect, the best combo of price/performance may be OEM!

hmm I need to find a set of rears I think....time to search all the m-b part websites :-/

I was thinking about possibly going with H&R springs with Bilstein or just stay with the OEM springs for right now, but either way I do need to replace the shocks.

With OEM, the rear springs and shocks come as a set.
