Parktronics or Something Similar?

Hi Guys...I just got a 2006 ML 350 with everything but Parktronics (I really just had to get what was available at the dealer and they did not have one with all my packages and Parktronics) Anyway, I want to know if it's possible to install if not Parktronics something similar and if that would not affect the warranty of the car.
Thanks.

Why didn't you just order a vehicle to your specs?? Or, have them do a search and do a dealer trade for one equipped with what you wanted. From what I understand Parktronic is not readilly retrofitable and all the aftermarket parking aids are in my opinion half assed.

Steve (MBenzNL) a member and sponsor of this forum can retrofit parktronic, it's not cheap ($1500-2000 or so) but it's factory original equipment.

Exactly, it can be added, but it is costly. I am also not sure if it has ALL the hidden features (i.e. interaction with any safety features). Other than that, I have heard of quite a few people adding them in SoCal.

Sorry...I do not know where this will post...I am not very familiar with the forum...anyway...I would love a back up camera...anyone knows about someone in Los Angeles that can do that job? Can the camera use the NAV screen and would that affect the car warranty?

Regarding the other question: My car was a last minute gift...I really did not have a choice (it was either get the car or not...so I just took it)...the car has everything else I wanted BUT the darn Parktronics which should come standard...I mean is cheap feature...it is ridiculous. I mean, there was one ML with the Parktronics but it was a different color and had the Appearance Pack rather than the Premium...quite frankly (I know most guys will dissagree) I like wood better than chrome...is just a girl thing? Anyway....regarding Parktronics...I really do not know how essential or helpful it would be (probably it will help me with my non-existent parallel parking skills)...however, who are we kidding here...I cannot even paralell park a sedan or a mini...I just wanted the darn thing...but what can I do...I'll settle for a back up camera...any suggestions?
Thanks !!!

Sorry to bother you...but do your car camera uses the NAV screen as the display...I know nothing about cars so I do not know how complicated would it be to do that on the 2006 ML...and by any chance do you know if that screws you with the car warranty?

Fiorucci: costs vary, depending on features and how well they integrate into your system from about $500 to about $3000.
Yes, you can have it go into the nav screen, but it will kill your warranty on the effected parts.
Many high end car audio places in LA can do it. Go to a reputable one, to reduce the chance of screwing up your ride.
Typical girl. Pushy pushy pushy LOL

ClayJ: have you found a monitor that replaces the rear view? i have seen the ones with a small portion of the mirror, but i want to have a monitor only.

jangy is correct - to "splice" it into your nav screen in your MBZ will cost you more -- but you would be surprised how many highend auto stereo and tuning shops do this these days.

You can get a system with a separate screen - which will cost you far less - which is what I do in some of my cars because the screen is mounted anywhere due to no nav and no reaview mirror....
