Just lost 7G Transmission!!
I am flabergasted! I own a 2006 ML350 with 7000 miles and I'm sitting in a McDonalds waiting for Mercedes Roadside service to tow me in to the dealer. I'm pi$$ed off paying this much for this car and having to deal with this! This confirms that I'm going to cancel the E63 that has the 7G tranny!

everyone knows there was a problem with the 7G's initially; i suspect a fix will make you whole...BMW increased the warranty on 02-03 7's for similar reasons...i'd be pissed, but i don't think i would cancel my order unless the service is handled unprofessionally.

Friday I received a RED Message to" Drive directly to workshop without shifting gears. I did have the time to do that. So, I turned it off and restarted it and it has been fine since.

Problems
I just took my ML350 to the dealer this weekend to get the rough shift from 2nd to 1st looked at and reprogrammed. Let's see what happens.
Also, my brake was "mushy" and had some play in it. They said the master cylinder was not functioning normally and has to order the brake master cylinder.
In addition, I had my tires rotated. Now there is a bumpy noise when the speed is 30 miles/hour or more.
CRAZY! I only have this car for 2 months. You are paying for the Mercedes name, not quality. hehe...

Seems like the ML with the 7 speed have had a lot of problems.. I am guessing it has something to do with the car having 4wd.. So far I have not heard of many problems with the 2wd cars...With the exception of a a few picky people who think the 7 speed is jerky... If you think the 7 speed is jerky then you need to ride in a BMW with SMG...

How do you drive without shifting gears? keep the car in first?

my dads driven over 7000 miles on his 06 ML350 since april (works in the city), and so far the 7 speed trans has been great. Ive driven it a few times and love the feel of it. Since it is a first year model I can understand it might have some quirks. My brother has an 01' ML320 and has had problems since day one and always is in and out of the shop. I guess its the luck of the draw sometimes.

Andrew: I took mine in to Kansas City, MO. They reprogrammed my trans. It was a smoother shift until today. It's worse than I had brought it in. Let's see what happens tomorrow and see if the trans will 'fix' itself. I have no time to bring the car in to have it fixed now. Maybe another 3 weeks or so. This is starting to upset me. Oh well. ML 350 transmision been fine
I've been fortuante--6500 miles and no issues. And I am LOVING the great gas mileage for an SUV this size. Easy low 20's on highway driving. Have seen 23 mpg and that's at speeds that can generate tickets.
