Access to center speaker

Does anyone know how to access the center speaker in the ML? The center channel is one of the most important speakers in a DSP soundstage like that of the H-K Logic-7, yet MB installs a $1.99 (and that may be an over estimate) speaker for that important function. I would like to look into replacing or augmenting it in some way. But short of removing the dashboard, I don't see a way to get at it. Is there some other access to it?

Thanks in advance,

- FD

the dash doesnt need to come out... the grille actually pops off but it is held in with a bunch of clips that you have to unsnap. the trick is to use a panel tool to get under the grill and pry upward. the metal grille is bent around a plastic frame and you need to get under both. alternately you can get at the first two clips by removing the center vents and looking inbetween the ducts and the dashboard.
