54000 miles from a set of pads is very good. Have not seen all the brake wear and squeal issues with the W164 that were prevalent on the W163 forum. Great improvement.

Haha.. Just fixing your car on time without making any fuss about it and not making you come several times to get things fixed would be sufficient for me

$852!!! I've always done my own brakes. Is there something special about these other than the three-pointed star on the vehicle that makes them so expensive? How much are the parts and are they readily available in the aftermarket?

Whats so special?? Parts, salary for the mechanic, benefits for the mechanic, overhead, insurance for the shop, You know, the same things that you get from your job and the same costs that your employer has to deal with.

Wait, 54,000 miles on the brake pads? The original set? And in NJ driving? That's awesome!
I remember my W211 needing new brakes about every 10-12K miles.

did that 852 include the maintenence service and the brake pads?
if it was just the brakes... 852 seems a lot, even for 4 MB brake pads.... unless your rotors were also changed?

Rotors generally last thru 2 sets of pads. I have never heard of MB suggesting they be changed with every set. There is a min thickness spec that should be checked to see if they need replacement when the pads are changed

The $852 was for the service and pad change...all inclusive. I don't use the brakes that much...lol lots of highway driving.
