just had my 2007 ml 320cdi lose all power and in general act like it was starving for fuel. The computer display read esp off( or something like that). My wife used tele aide , which worked great and a flat bed was dispatched and loaded the car up with in 20 minutes. Dealer did there test and states "crank sensor " bad, replaced crank sensor and vehicle is now back to normal. My question is this, What would cause the crank sensor to malfunction and is this a common accurance? The vehicle has 8000 miles. Thanks in advance.

thats exactly what she described the problem as, very rough idle. then die. My concern is that it seems odd a new vehicle has this type of failure. I guess the good thing is that from the time the problem happened to the time it was fixed was only about 3 hours. Pretty good service if you ask me.
