ML320 CDI Long-Term Fuel Economy

Please help me validate my decision to purchase an ML320 CDI Diesel. Here's my average fuel economy for the last 11377 miles, 22.0 MPG with an average speed of 32 MPH. Can some of you with ML350's and ML500's let me know the real-world gas mileage you are seeing so I can compare?

Thanks!!!

31.4MPG today!! Drove highway for about 30 miles, 55-60 mph(due to the State Troopers everywhere), 57degrees F, light traffic, and I have 25000 miles.
Give the motor some more break in time. You will like the results and $avings.

I've driven a little over 5500 miles in my 2007 ML320CDI (the vehicle has 11,000 miles) and my average MPG is 23.7

At 13000 miles I am seeing combined city/hwy of 24-24.6. It is definitely improving with more miles. I would expect to need at least 15,000 for "break-in". Keep in mind that there is a reason for the phrase "your mileage may vary". You can garantee that your mileage will not be as high as some or as low as others due to differences in driving habits, terrain, vehicle issues, road surfaces, climate, etc.!! You are in the right range.

Any ML350 or ML500 Owners?

I'd still like to hear what the gas versions of the ML are seeing for fuel economy.

2006 ML500. 17.8mpg on the trip computer over the last 6000 miles (since I bought it) in mixed driving. Car has about 25000 miles on it now. Not bad for a V8. Lots of times I'm getting 19-20mpg on the highway, but a few trips sitting in traffic or stoplights keeps me in the 17mpg range overall.

Another point. Although I watch the reported mileage on the multifunction display closely, I also track my mileage manually each time I fill the tank. My hand calculated mileage has always been better than the mileage calculated by the truck.

I'm only up to 8500 miles on my 2007 CDI, but I averaged 28.3 on my last tank--road trip from NJ to Vermont AND back ... I do like getting just over 700 miles on a tank of gas.

3800 ish on an '08 CDI 24.5 on the turnpike in Ohio 68 mph. Kind of dissappointed, I hope it does loosen up some. 20 mpg around town.

Don't be. Thats about right for a new motor. Give it some more miles. 20/25 city/hwy is impressive for a 4000+ pound 4 wheel drive SUV... A lot of Japanese "economy" 4 bangers are barely in that range in real world use!

FYI, I saw 32.4 on Highway today!!!!!

Sounds like you're milage can only get better as the engine breaks in.

Good Luck.
