how do u make the ML beep when u lock the doors??

wife keeps leaving the darn car doors unlocked.. she swears she's locking them. all her other cars use to beep when u lock the car with the remote, this one doesn't... is there a way to make it sound-off so as to know u actually did lock the darn thing???!!!

I don't think you can. The lights flash 3X when properly locked; and on the 2007 ML, the folded mirrors can be an additional sign.

Mirrors also fold on the 2006, don't know about the 08's.You can also hear the locks sort of click if not too far away from the vehicle. I for one would not care to hear a horn beep like lots of the cheap cars do. Its annoying.

yeah.. i hate that beep as well... but if it's the only way to satisfy the chore was done, so be it.:smash:

On my E350, it is not the horn that beeps to indicate the doors are locked. It is a very quiet chirp, chirp, chirp in rapid succession. I very much appreciate it because I am in the habit of locking the car as I walk away. I don't think any of the newer Mercedes use the horn to signal the locking or unlocking. But my wife's Chrysler 300 is another story.

Yup, the mirrors can be set to fold in on the '08. That's how I tell my doors are locked. I did recently have an '08 C class courtesy vehicle and it beeped three times when I locked. I don't think there's any option to beep for the '08 ML though.

Folding Mirrors & Locking

Keep in mind that the mirrors can be set to fold or not when locking. HOWEVER, folded mirrors are not a sure telltale that the truck is locked. You can unlock the truck with your fob; and the mirrors will stay folded. You can unlock your truck with the fob and open the back doors to get something out; and the mirrors will stay folded.

After unlocking, those mirrors will only unfold when you open a front door; so you could have an unlocked truck with folded mirrors - i.e. folded mirrors are not a 100% telltale that it's locked.

Not every ML would fold the mirrors, only the ones with P2, P3, isn't it ?

You're absolutely right. Good point to clarify that I missed. I mainly meant it's a cue when you lock the vehicle like a beep. With either system, if you unlock the truck to get something out and forget to re-lock it you won't get a cue that the car is still unlocked.

The dealer can enable the beep or chime when you lock/unlock the doors. They have to use SDS (Star Diagnostics). Its a simple setting.

Not on a 2007 ML. I have access to the DAS/SDS and that is not an option.

Hmm odd, my sister has a 2007 ML550 and it beeps. The dealer did it in about 10 minutes. This seems odd. Perhaps it was a running change.

Yeah in the US. Fairly common vehicle here in Southern California along with the ML350, GL450, and now the GL550.

I didn't know the 550 engine was available in the US in 2007. All the literature I have says ML500, no ML550.

Yeah I agree, just been on a 17 day California trip where we had a Chrysler Town & Country that had this feature. Bl**dy beep woke our 4 month old baby everytime we left the car, I couldnt even shut it down Please dont do this to a MB..

Done it on my '07. From memory, you go into rear SAM, then adaptations, into ATA, change country to Netherlands, exit, change coding, you're done!

Our Chrysler 300 beeps the horn. I agree it is too loud. Our Mercedes,on the other hand, uses a quiet "chirp" sound that wouldn't wake a baby and is very unobtrusive.
