stupid newbie questions
We just picked up al 06 ml350 for the wife. So far, its been great. However, I have a few dumb questions...

1) It is not 4matic. However, I believe all ml's are awd. So, what does 4matic give you?

2) What are good step rails and hitch to purchase? I understand that the MB rails are not so good for your clothing.

3) Any cool or must have accessories I should buy?

1. i think all W164 ML's are 4matic
2. not sure but I like the OEM boards but dont have any experience as i dont have them myself
3. you can get chrome foglight rings for a nice added touch?

4 matic is mercedes term for 4 wheel drive or all wheel drive. audi's version is called quattro. 2006 didn't have the 4matic badge on the right rear. it started in 2007.

^not true my 2006 has it on the back right, maybe the previous owner debadged it.

perhaps the previous owner bought a badge and slapped it on.
what is your production date on the car?


you can check it out for yourself on the ebay listings for 2006 ml's..... none of them have the 4matic badging

The very early 2006 ML350 models did not have the 4Matic badge on them because mine didn't have it. MB only started putting those on about 6 months after the ML350 came out.

Just for reference, my build date is 11/05.

Patel, open the driver's door and look at the frame. There is a label with vehicle specs including the build date.
