The correct part number is 163 740 01 32.

Is it your problem that the auto closing of the tailgate is not locking? And if so, where did you get the idea that the striker was the problem?

still not clear on the issue... is it a power latching style ? that won't lift the tailgate up occasionally ?

Yes it is a power lift hatch..its worked fine but now it wont open,it tries to,it moves out a lil like it unlocks but wont release & goes back to locked position, you can manually open & shut it,the motor is working to lift it but it just wont release it to lift,Ive even try to help it,its still hooked..everything ive read say the latches are bad about going out on these, usually not locking but I dont know what else would cause this,I was going to replace it,be cheaper than taking it to Mercedes
