how does distilled and de-ionised water effect the washer system?

how does distilled and de-ionised water effect the washer system?

just reading through my manual and curious as to why MB dont recommend using distilled and deionised water for the window washer system. i thought it would be better as it is clean water???

It is better, but it isn't necessary. Best is to use a premix windshield washer fluid, even if you live in an area where it never freezes. Not only does it inhibit freezing, it lubricates the pump and the washer nozzles.
