battery location
hello everyone,
New to this site. Traded my rangie (Range rover sport) for a 2011 ml550 white with beige interior.:zoom: Very different vehicles. just wondering how this suv behaves in snow (haven't had any major snow yet) and second , how do you get to the battery? does it have two batteries? I thank you in advance for your helpful responses. :) |
These vehicles are basically snowmobiles.:y I have plowed through snow up to the grill, while towing a utility trailer. Make sure you have proper winter tires. I use Nokians. Factory Conti's are OK, but won't last past 15K miles.
The battery is under the front passenger seat. Slide the seat all the way forward and you will see a perforated area in the carpet where you have to cut. There are 2 batteries. One main 12V Gel type to start/run the engine and a tiny one to move the transmission shifter out of park if the main battery is dead. (This is there in case you have to push the vehicle to an accessible area for a jump start.) By the way, if you need to jump it, the connection posts are under the hood, passenger side. Enjoy the ride, welcome!:zoom: |
I got caught in the unexpected Oct 2011 blizzard in upstate NY. My ML safely plowed through the snow like it wasn't there. This is my first ML and I'm very happy with it!

Battery information is included in the owners manual.
If you didn't get one with your car, your dealer can easily get you one. Never assume "general automotive knowledge" applies to a Mercedes. |
aljus; just read my experience with our first light snow fall a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks to all your responses. They have all been helpful except I read the battery section of the owners manual and there is no mention of WHERE the battery is as chris had told me to do..........Maybe he is looking at the non-U.S. version of the owners manual. :nix:

Yes it has 2 batteries. The main battery is located underneath the passenger seat.

Both batteries are located below the passenger set. I believe they are AGM batteries, not gel type batteries.
