1998 BMW M3 Sedan Dinan S2 and TSX Tech Wagon
First MB Purchase: 2008 ML550 - Guidance
MB World forum members. Need some advice. We are on an extended test drive of a 94k mile silver/black ML550. Pretty basic. P1, Navi, etc. DVD players, no Xenons and no H/K stereo I'm pretty sure. What are key watchouts?
The interior is flawless, rides great, no squeaks/rattles. Front brakes could use new rotors/pads soon, but can't tell from the pedal. Tires are good. No smoke or funny noises. Although, I hear what sounds like a VERY faint whine from the trans/xfer maybe? It's for my wife. She wants a Benz SUV and has to have power tailgate and lots of power. The TSX Tech Wagon that goes off lease soon is too slow for her.
Any advice would be great. Thanks!

I have a 2010 ML550 with roughly 35,000 miles of flawless service.
Like most Mercs, feels like a vault and the 550 has a voluptuous powerband.
Your wife will love it.
The adjustable air suspension, if yours is so equipped, is also very nice. The difference between sport and comfort is pronounced and both settings get equal use in my case.

550 is the way to go... However, at 94k miles you are gonna be expecting a few big ticket items soon, so be prepared for that, and I think you have already pointed out a few.
If I were you, I would be looking at a 2009 or newer. Updated nav, better looking, etc etc...
Good luck!
