Does anybody have any experience with the dealer-offered 3M protection package for the ML? For about $1199 they will do the whole front end and 1st 8" of the hood. The details on the front grill are apparently done as well and it comes with a lifetime product protection warrantee. Is it worth it?

I had my car done by the dealer for about $700. Entire front end, 24" up on hood and fenders, mirrors and each door edge. Oh, and "lifetime" warranty on material/application.

Negotiate a little. The dealer has a low paid shop worker do the job, and the material ain't that expensive.

I highly recommend the protection, but if the dealer won't be competitive, the are alot of detail shops that will do it for much less than $1200!

Things like this are usually far better in workmanship and cost from a detail shop that does a lot of them instead of a dealer than does relatively few.
