w164 Driver door handle lock unlock
Hey Everyone, my driver door handle is starting to act up. I have the keyless go and from the drivers handle I can no longer lock the car and unlocking is working intermittently. Right now I have to use the rear driver side door to lock/unlock the car. Anyone else have this problem and if so how much is the part to replace and is it a DIY or does it require reprogramming and is more pain than it's worth. The Key and the other handles still can unlock and lock the drivers door so it's not the actuator but the sensor in the handle.

Out Of Control!!
The keyless go lock and uklock system is complicated, however in your case you either have a faulty door handle sensor or a faulty lock\unlock servo motor---which one find someone with DAS Xentry and request a quick test!!

Thanks, I'll contact my Indp mechanic and find if they have one.
Was able to get it working by peeling away a bit of the rubber gasket and spraying Electrical contact cleaner. Worked right away. Is it possible to remove the gasket from outside or do I have to pull apart the door and handle. Thinking it might be corrosion.

Can you provide a little more info? Not clear where you made this hole.
Had to replace my actuator, a $700 repair.

I just made a small hole (very large sewing needle) is the rubber gasket near the top (where you press to lock the vehicle from the outside), I then inserted the Contact Cleaner using the attached extension tube into the hole and sprayed the inside. I left it alone overnight and the next morning it started working again. I'm hoping that whatever corrosion was there was minimal and this for now has solved my problem. The rubber gasket more or less sealed it self and I left the hold alone for now. My thought was I couldn't make it any worse so it was worth a try.

Update: It stopped working again this weekend, sprayed it with contact cleaner again and it's working for now. Not sure if it's the cold Chicago winter or just the moisture in the air.

Still unclear to me - the location you inject elec cleaner,. You mean from the locking knob? I just wonder whether too much liquid might cause short circuits.

I made a hole in the black rubber piece on the outside of the door handle with a large needle and just sprayed away. Not sure with electrical contact cleaner you can use too much, either way if it's not working what do you have to lose. Mine still is working perfectly, I'm guessing it's corrosion since I'm 2 for 2 with this solution.

Make an incision in the gap area where the slit goes back to make the square. Not sure if I would seal it since this may need to be done a few times a year. I left the incision alone and no effects from the Chicago winter.
