Another thread Oil leak on diesel OM642

I have 09' Bluetec and it has oil leak somewhere. It's possible it's leaking from throttle body (????), well anyway an oil is all over on alternator . Please take look.
Is possible turbo leaking and it goes to throttle body?
Any ideas?
Plus what is connector, it's not connected to anywhere????

It's my plan tomorrow. I was asking if anyone had same experience with it?

And it maybe identify a connector.

Check the condition of your valve cover gasket, might be cracking. Dunno about that connector, but it looks like it has a sealed cover on it - might just do nothing.

Also, when was the last time you replaced the fuel filter? It's looking a little funky!

I got car on lift. So I traced oil leak as I could see without disassembly whole engine. It's leaking along the EGR pipe, that goes to throttle (? ??). It has oil at external and bottom side of the pipe(lower side that is looking at engine). No oil at tranny bell housing, it looked it was there leaked there but no more.

Any ideas??
I have ordered the fuel filter, so I will be replacing soon, and hopefully i will see than.

Replace all air filter and fuel filter they were nasty, looked like never have been changed. Well It seems to me PCV valve is blown. And it might why has oil at front, since EGT pipe take ramp air to butterfly valve at front. I will replace all gasket here too.

My oil leak was from the seals on the oil cooler located in the "valley" on the top of the engine. Lots of stuff to remove to replace seals and costly if you can't do it.

I have the same connector--I'm not sure where it goes either. I've always wondered it if was some sort of engine pre-heater connector....

At any rate, my car has had a leak (not nearly as bad as yours) for a while in the same area and I just recently figured out it was the vacuum pump. The pump bolts to the top of the engine right above the area you are depicting. I had changed all the seals in the intake pipe around the throttle body like others here have suggested since there is always residual oil coming through the intake tract from the CCV system, and that still didn't stop it. I just bought a new pump for $180. Installed in :20.

Hey, mine just got done today at my local indy shop. $2,800 to get in there, replace the seals (all of them on stuff they had to remove and break apart to get to the cooler), my baby was out of service for a week.

THANK GOD for the CarMax extended warranty. I am out of pocket $300 and my shop said they were super easy to deal with. Just about paid for the warranty with that one claim.

Good, now my wife can stop driving my E63 BiTurbo Renntech.

Mercedes-Benz AMG E63 & ML350 Bluetec
Appreciate any input....

If you read the previous post you know I just had my 2011 ML350 BlueTec repaired for the oil leaks at the cooler. Wife said that it was running loudly and when I drove it, it is no longer the quiet, smooth ML350 we had before the repair work was done. Engine noise, almost like valves or injector(s) making a racket. It has plenty of oil and the shop re-checked all the bits and pieces to make sure a shield or part wasn't loose. They want me to just drive it for a few more days to see if it goes away, their thinking is that it might be air in the injector(s) since all of that was apart.

Any suggestions or thumbs up or down on that line of thinking? This local indy shop is a very well respected place and I've trusted them since they opened - just looking for some comfort while we drive it for a few days.

Thanks!

We have a oil leak on our 2010 ML350 32000 miles, i stripped down the engine to check the dredded oil seals on the oil cooler, was a waste of time as there was no signs of oil in the valley and the seals were the new purple ones.

I still replaced them and all the other ones as i put it all back together, still have the leak coming from the bell housing.

To double check everything i got a tiny flexible camera from ebay and connected it to the computer, i managed to wangle it down into the valley and could see no oil.

Only thing i can think of now is the rear crankshaft oil seal, anybody had trouble with theres??.

Bob

the leak is dripping from the bottom of the bellhousing, so at first i thought it was coming from the drain hole from the valley......no such luck!

Have replied via your message, it was the crankshaft oil seal, the new one is a much better design and quality.
Been leak free now for 4 months

That sounds like round engines on old airplanes, or fractions of round engines on old Harleys. They're like cats, always wanting to mark their territory.

Bobblydon,

I finally got my car back after 2 days. It seemed to be the rear main seal as everything is now dry and no more drips. Fingers crossed it is sorted now!

Thanks!
