We just finished the 60,000 mile service and my mechanic, who did not know the fill and drain plugs on the differential could not be reused until I told him, told me today that he brought the issue up with the local dealer when buying parts for the service. Turns out the plugs on the differentials on my ML550 were the old style with COPPER CRUSH WASHERS, which is the reason why they cannot be reused, but MB has now switched to a new style of plugs that do not need to be replaced when servicing the differentials. FYI.
