homelink issue
Hello all, new to the forum, but did a bit of reading here in preparation for the purchase of my 2006 ML500.
One question I cannot resolve totally is around the homelink (I have read the manual and lots of posts about programming the garage door opener)
No matter what I do I cannot get the LED to light up at all (item 1 according to the manual where 2,3,4 are the buttons) I have held 2,4 for 20 seconds to a min with the key in position 2 multiple times.
should the light ...light up when I press any of the buttons?
the reading lights works so there is power to the mirror, it is possible that the homelink system has a problem or am I just missing something simple in the process?
Thanks for the help,
Lee

The first thing you must do is please UPDATE YOUR PROFILE in USER CP to include the year and where you live.
Then in a separate post, supply your full vin #.

I had already added the vehicle type and location (only asks for country unless I am missing something)
VIN: 4JGBB75E76A037691
(Or is that supposed to be posted in a specific thread?)
Thanks,
Lee

Hey Dundee, Thanks for such a warm welcome and providing so much help - it has been a great welcome to the forum.
The year and model have been there, since before your kind response. Even though the instructions on the forum (and the title above the entry field do not specify to enter year).
Thanks again. and with help like this I am sure I will get to the bottom of the issue quickly.

It's important to know where you live. If you live in Canada the procedure could be difficult to program.
Also start reading on page 289 to 294 in the owner's manual and look for erasing the memory pg. 294.

This has been on my profile since before my first post, not sure why the location details are not showing for you.
I have followed the instructions on the manual, followed slightly different instructions found on this forum. The problem is that the little LED light (item 1 in the manual) will not light up...no matter what I do.
I am trying to determine if the unit itself is bad. It seems that the light should light up when simply pressing any of the transmit buttons. When you press one of the buttons to open your garage door does the led light to show it is transmitting?
Thanks,
